So, we had our baby on Wednesday morning. We checked into the hospital on Tuesday night, and after a long and very painful process of dilation, Brienne was finally ready to push at 8 AM the next morning. Gratefully, the pushing only took an hour and a half, and before we knew it, our little Luke's head was squeezing it's way into the light. It was a very out of the ordinary experience. Not your usual, everyday type of occurrence, but a great one to have. We are grateful to have him with us. He weights 7 pounds 2 ounces, and is 19 1/2'' long. He did have some minor respiratory problems when he was first born, but being hooked up to a respirator for an hour did the trick and he's doing fine now. Mom is doing very well. She is happy that after a long wait, it is finally over, although a fair bit of soreness is sure to follow. We have decided to name him Luke Del Shumway. Luke because we like it, Del after my father, and Shumway because that's our last name. We thought of adding a Lupe-Fernandez on the end just for kicks, but then we remembered that we're not crazy. Thank goodness. Anyway, we love him. We think he is the cutest thing we have ever seen, and we have decided to keep him. Thanks to everyone for your support. Dave out.
